I love reading, that’s no secret. But I have never really been part of any serious reading challenges. Thus, I decided that this year I should be part of a proper reading challenge. I signed up to my Goodreads account and set a personal goal of reading 25 books in the year 2016. Given the fact that we have 12 months, I calculated 2 books a month and 1 bonus.
What I needed next was an idea or some sort of recommendation that I could follow. After searching the internet for a while I found one reading challenge that seemed to fit into my requirements scale.
A challenge is always fun when you have other people taking part in it along with you. So I am tagging all you book lovers to join me on this reading journey for this year.
The Reading Challenge is called 25 Books for 2016, here is the list I will be following.
Are you part of challenges this year? Let me know.

Thank you for sharing the list Rashmi. I love reading but nowadays I am more on reading articles than books, I guess my time had limited me unlike when I was younger. 🙂

That happens a lot, Shine. Why don’t you switch to reading short stories that way you are not spending too much time?

Dear Rashmi,
After reading Lolita, I needed a break, I picked up, “The Great Gatsby,” I realized why you liked it so much. I loved the book, but found it sad, I liked Gatsby and Nick the narrator’s character in the book, they were delightful.
Yesterday, I started reading , “Angels and Demons,” I’m finding it interesting. Thank you for your suggestion. 🙂

Hi Ranu, I am so glad to know that you enjoyed The Great Gatsby, it’s a tragedy buy very well written.
Angels and Demons is a good one too, although it’s a little slow and sometimes you might have to push yourself to get through some of the chapters.
I just finished my 7th book yesterday. Will be starting my 8th book for the year ‘The 5th Wave’ today. Picking up a sci-fi book for a change.
Are you on Goodreads? We could continue our discussion there, it will be easier to talk books there than having to come to this post everytime.
You should also join our forum, it’s called Blogger’s World. if interested, I can send you an invite for the forum. Let me know.
Regards, Rashmi

Hi Rashmi ,
I finished reading, “The End of the Affair by Graham Greene,” on Tuesday 23rd of this month. I have started reading the next one, it’s a book I’m reading out of curiosity. While reading Lolita in Tehran , I wondered what was Lolita about, why was there so much dialogue about this book in particular? After starting it I’ve realized , it is not the kind of book, one picks up for reading pleasure. It shows a dangerous side of some humans, which most of us are not aware of, yet it is good to know. I Would appreciate to know your feeling. Thank you.

Hi Ranu,
You seem to be in a roll! Are you planning to read Lolita next? I have read the book and must say that the content is on the darker side, but the book is very well written! It is definitely worth a read, it is one of the best sellers for obvious reasons although it was controversial.
However, If you have difficulty with reading content involving incest and physical relationships, then I suggest you proceed with caution. Hope this helps.

Thank you Rashmi, I started reading it before I picked up “The End of the Affair,” after reading a few pages I could not go on, so I read the book I just finished and picked up “Lolita,” again. I have other books I can read it seems according to my friends it’s a must read book.
Also your comment makes me want to read it. Thank you so much for your help. 🙂

Once again thank you for your encouragement, if it weren’t for you I probably wouldn’t seriously think of reading twenty-five books. 🙂

I have started reading novels since I was 7/8. Thanks to my mother. Nowadays I read slowly hence only 20 books is my target. I have read Indian writers’ book in Hindi and Bengali, some translations also. I’ll try to recall some.

That’s an interesting list, Rashmi. I don’t think I’ll follow it but as I read a book I’ll see if it fits in any of the categories. I usually set a goal to read 100 books a year. In 2015 I read 85. Since I won’t be doing another Blogging U. course until February, I plan to devote my Wonderful Words Blog posts this month to my reading. I’ll be doing a post on what I read in 2015 and what I plan to read in 2016. I also hope to do a post on each book I read. Good luck with your reading plan.

Hi it’s such a good idea to enter the reading challenge with “goodreads.’ I signed up to read 25 books, I hope I can do it. I’ve already started reading a non-fiction, which is a translation by Mobi Ho, the title is,”The Miracle of Mindfulness.” An introduction to the Practice of Meditation.
Thank you for your post, it is timely. 🙂

Well for this challenge, it’s just about crossing off the category from the list. So every time you cross off a category (or if you are a fast reader once you complete a set of categories) you can tag in the forum or through a blog post. Would be lovely to discuss.
Do let me know if you have read some really good books worth recommending from the categories in the list!
Thank you, Happy New Year to you too! 🙂

All you need to do to be part of this challenge is to pick one book from the category I posted and read it…that’s all. Maybe you could recommend some good books to me from the ones you already read…that would be great. We could discuss in the forum. 🙂

I love reading, but school takes up so much time I would never be able to do 25 books! Plus I’m really picky about what I read and I would not be happy reading a book I didn’t like only to complete a challenge. But I sincerely wish you and anyone else participating all the best and I hope y’all come across some great books! 🙂

I can relate to that. I’m quite picky myself. So my biggest challenge would be to find books that fit in the criteria of the challenge.
Thanks for the wishes! I will def let you know if I come across any great books in this journey! 🙂
