It’s Friday morning as I write this and my mind is still racing with excitement from the Motivational Seminar I attended yesterday in San Antonio, Texas.
I’m invigorated and inspired from all the great speakers and new friendships created with other folks in attendance.
Here are just a few of the many nuggets of treasure that I’ve brought back with me. I’d like to share them with you and hope that they’re helpful in getting you through the tough times when you might be feeling afraid, tired, discouraged.

“Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.”
Les states, “Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.” I think it’s safe to say that at some time in our lives, we have all come across someone who doesn’t believe in us and our potential and capabilities. It may have been someone near and dear to our hearts, someone of importance in our lives. We may have been so deeply affected by this, that we even begin to doubt ourselves.
Les says, “Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”
At this point in the seminar he asks us to stand and say out loud, with intense conviction, “I am worthy.” “With more intensity and like you believe it!” he says, and so we repeat “I AM WORTHY!!” Immediately a smile comes across my face and a feeling of warmth and hope begins to swell in my heart. I look to my left and my right to see if this is having the same effect on others. Oh yes, indeed it is. The energy in the room is high and spirited.
“Be determined to handle any challenge in a way that will make you grow and learn.”
Les goes on to talk about other challenges that he faced and how he overcame them. I’m reminded of the many obstacles and difficult times in my own life, which I have maneuvered my way through and around, to get to my own goals and successes. And I wonder about everyone all around me, and what visions and aspirations they have had for themselves, that they have not been able to accomplish. I hear Les saying, “Be determined to handle any challenge in a way that will make you grow and learn.” And, “Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you to where you want to go, no one else.”
“Setbacks are just setups for the comebacks!!”
This from Les, “Setbacks are just setups for the comebacks!!” There has been many a doubtful day in my own life. I realize that I allowed other people’s doubt in me to overcome and consume me. I allowed it to slow me down and through me off course. I also realize that throughout the whole journey, there was learning and personal growth. And that it was all making me into the person that I am today. I am stronger because of all of it, I can weather the storm. There is always a little voice inside me, sometimes it whispers and sometimes it yells,
“You are worthy. You are capable. You deserve it.”
I am forever grateful, that no matter what, that spark of hope and belief are with me always. I’ve never let go of hope, or perhaps hope has never let go of me.
What difficulties have you faced in your life? What dreams and aspirations do you have for yourself? What is holding you back? What would it take to help you be able to move forward and make progress? I would love for you to share your thoughts with me in the comments section.
Here is a powerful statement by Les, “Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way.”
Each and every one of us has a special gift to bring to this world. Something that is unique within us. I encourage you to take some time and space for yourself, to feel and think through this. Allow your light to shine. Allow it to shine brightly. Believe in yourself. Keep on with the keepin’ on. No matter what. You are capable. You deserve it. You are worthy. Each and every one of us is. There is absolutely no doubt, in my mind and heart about that.

This was so inspirational: I love Les Brown too! We seem to be in our own way all the time when journeying towards realizing our purpose. I don’t know, there is some type of fear that paralyzes us… Thanks for reminding us we are indeed worthy and that we are to remind ourselves often!! Difficulties are things we go through to help us appreciate our hard work towards our goals when we get there 🙂
